Instructional Enhancement Grants

Developing the Foundation’s Focus | Instructional Enhancement Grants

During the development of the Foundation’s Five-Year Plan in 2019, meetings were held with the District’s Superintendent and instructional personnel in the District to determine funding priorities.  As a result, Instructional Enhancement Grants, one of three areas of focus, were developed.

Introduction

Instructional Enhancement Grants will be instrumental in the District’s ability to provide a premier education to all students of the District. Specifically, this grant will allow teachers to create riveting, hands-on lessons that will bolster the educational experience of students through special projects and will ensure that every student has access to the tools necessary to their success.

The cultural divide in rural Texas is based not on race or ethnicity, but on economics. Outside of the school environment, students who are economically disadvantaged do not have access to the same resources as students who are not disadvantaged. This funding will, therefore, equalize the educational playing field and help pay for technology, specialized materials, and instructional trips in order to incorporate STEAM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Arts/Math) elements that they are learning about.

Funds will also allow the District to add a variety of career and technical curriculum and program offerings that normally could not be added due to the District’s size and location. The goal is to create a student body that upon graduation is college, career, or military ready. The District is focused on graduating students with industry-recognized certificates.
